You vacuum and mop offices at night with one partner.
You and Kalaya, who is 75, share the fourth floor of an office building. She leaves out the back offices nobody ever looks at, so the two of you finish early and she makes the last bus home. Tonight Maryam, who runs the crew, stops beside your cart in the corridor.
The scene
Maryam: Fourth floor, done by eleven again. Fastest pair I've got. What's your secret?
Kalaya: Oh, we have a system. Thirty years of practice, that's all.
Maryam: Well, I'm putting you two up for the quarterly bonus. Anything I should know first?
Kalaya: Nothing at all. Right? We just work well together.
