Written scenario · Motivation, Resilience

By the time you finish

You work full time at a warehouse and take evening classes to complete the prerequisites for a health professional program.

After a year and a half, you are halfway through the courses. Your hours at work have just gone up, you are sleeping about five hours a night, and a coworker says: "You'll be thirty-five before you finish. Is it really worth it?"

The two questions

  1. 1How would you think through whether to continue?
  2. 2What would you say to someone who believes it is too late for them to start a new career?

What raters look for

Motivation
Shows genuine, sustained drive and a clear reason for choices, including when work is unglamorous.
Resilience
Recovers from setbacks, manages stress constructively, and learns from failure.
