It came in that way
You work at a dry cleaner and tailor shop.
Yesterday you pressed a customer's silk dress at the wrong setting and left a shiny mark on the hem. The owner, Mr. Sato, has had a hard year. As Renata walks in to collect the dress for a wedding on Saturday, he speaks to you under his breath.
The scene
Mr. Sato: If she notices, it came in that way. One refund like this and I can't make rent.
Renata: Hi! I'm here for the green dress. Is it ready?
Mr. Sato: All ready. My assistant will bring it out.
Renata: Thank you. It was my mother's. Everything went fine?
The two questions
- 1What would you say to Renata?
- 2What does taking responsibility for a mistake at work involve, beyond admitting it?
What raters look for
