Personal question · Professionalism, Ethics
Your name on the notice
The notice goes up with your name at the bottom, although you argued against it. A policy, a committee's ruling or a manager's instruction sometimes has to be delivered and enforced by the very person who opposed it, in front of colleagues who know that.
The two questions
- 1Tell us about a time you had to carry out, and perhaps explain to others, a decision you believed was the wrong call, such as a manager's instruction, a group vote or an organization's policy. How did you handle your own disagreement while doing what was expected?
- 2What did you learn about when to voice concerns and when to commit, and is there anything you have done differently since?
What raters look for
- Professionalism
- Is reliable, respects boundaries and confidentiality, and holds a consistent standard under pressure.
- Ethics
- Weighs competing duties honestly, protects people from harm, and stays accountable to rules and values.
