Something fell, please go

You are a camper staying at a site beside a stranger's camper in a state park.

It's nearly midnight at the campground. From the camper next to your site, you hear two adults arguing loudly, then a heavy crash, then quiet. You knock. A woman who says her name is Nari answers through the closed door: the shelf in their camper came loose, everything is fine, and please leave them alone. She sounds tired and tense, not frightened. You haven't heard the second voice since the crash. The host lives ten minutes away on foot, and waking the host and neighbors over a family quarrel could cause real trouble for them. Your phone has one bar of signal.

The two questions

  1. 1What would you do, and why?
  2. 2How do you decide when stepping into a situation that isn't clearly your business is the right thing to do?
