Scene to read · Problem solving, Self-awareness

Six sessions left

You are the coordinator of a community printmaking club, allocating the remaining letterpress training sessions.

In the workshop, you meet apprentices Gaspard, 60, and Geraldo, 30; Teodor, absent today, moves away in six weeks; only he operates the press safely. He offers six weekly hands-on sessions but dislikes manuals. Gaspard has printing experience but can attend only two sessions; Geraldo can attend all six but needs more practice with safety checks. Preparing and checking a usable record would take part of their limited training time.

The scene

Gaspard: I'd use my two sessions for advanced troubleshooting, then document those steps.

Geraldo: I'll be here every week, but I still need supervised basic practice.

Gaspard: Without troubleshooting notes, you could learn the basics and still get stuck.

Geraldo: That's true, but who'll run it if I'm not ready when he leaves?

The two questions

  1. 1How would you allocate the remaining sessions, and determine whether the club can use the press after Teodor leaves?
  2. 2Tell us about a time you revised your initial judgment about someone's readiness for a responsibility. How did you test your assumptions?

What raters look for

Problem solving
Gathers facts before acting, considers options and consequences, and chooses a workable next step.
Self-awareness
