Scene to read · Collaboration, Ethics
Held for which display?
You are a third stocker at a grocery store, asked to help two coworkers resolve a handover dispute.
In the stockroom, Asa, 49, the closing stocker, and Asha, 62, the morning stocker, dispute a note: "Delivery in back—hold for display, handle tomorrow." Asa meant unpack it for the aisle display; Asha thought it should remain boxed for an upcoming promotion. The canned goods stayed unshelved until noon. A shared allocation check would add fifteen minutes to an already understaffed closing shift; otherwise, you could help clear today's backlog.
The scene
Asa: I meant unpack it for today's display, not leave everything boxed.
Asha: And I thought you meant reserve it until the promotion starts.
Asa: Checking every display assignment adds fifteen minutes when closing's already stretched.
Asha: We could clear this now, but who's sorting out tomorrow's instructions?
The two questions
- 1How would you help Asa and Asha resolve today's backlog and decide whether to change the handover process?
- 2How do you decide when covering a gap supports teamwork and when it allows an unclear division of responsibility to continue?
What raters look for
- Collaboration
- Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
- Ethics
- Weighs competing duties honestly, protects people from harm, and stays accountable to rules and values.
