The only one with a car

You volunteer on Thursdays packing meals for homebound seniors.

Today's driver has not shown up, and twelve packed meals are still on the counter. You have a car, and you also have a final exam across town. In the depot kitchen, the coordinator, Marge, and another volunteer, Sid, look at you.

The scene

Marge: Twelve people are waiting on lunch, and you're the only one here with a car.

Sid: I don't drive. But I could ride along and run them in.

Marge: The route takes an hour. Your exam is in forty minutes, isn't it?

Sid: So what do we do?

The two questions

  1. 1What would you do?
  2. 2Tell us about a time you had two responsibilities you could not both meet. How did you handle it?
