Written scenario · Problem solving, Collaboration
Empty shifts
You coordinate volunteers for a Saturday community meal program in a church hall.
For the past two months, about a third of scheduled volunteers have not shown up, often without notice. Meals are going out late, the volunteers who do come are exhausted, and two of your most reliable people have said they may quit.

The two questions
- 1How would you work out what is going wrong, and what would you change?
- 2What would you consider before asking volunteers to commit to more?
What raters look for
- Problem solving
- Gathers facts before acting, considers options and consequences, and chooses a workable next step.
- Collaboration
- Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
