Best Dental School Interview Prep (2026): Courses, Coaches, AI
The main ways to prepare for a dental school interview, what each costs, and who each one fits.
Dental school interview prep comes in four kinds. Free ADEA resources and your pre-health advising office suit everyone. Human coaches and courses (BeMo, Inspira Advantage, Leland) suit applicants who want live feedback and can spend hundreds of dollars or more. AI practice tools (Confetto, DentPrep, Denterview, Intervly) suit frequent timed practice on a smaller budget. Guides and books help with school research.

Free and official resources
Start here whatever your budget. Most of these come from the people who run admissions or advise applicants.
- ADEA GoDental. The American Dental Education Association's GoDental site has Dental School Interviews Dos and Don'ts, with tips for before, during and after both in-person and virtual interviews, plus advice blogs from students, practitioners and advisors.
- Your school's own tips. Some dental schools publish interview advice. UT Health San Antonio tells applicants to remember what they wrote, to be ready to explain why they chose dentistry in two to three minutes, and to know a few key issues in the field.
- Pre-health advising mock interviews. Many universities run mock interviews for their own students. UIC's LAS Pre-Health office offers current students and alumni one mock interview with advisor feedback per cycle once they have an interview date, requested at least two weeks ahead. Penn's career services offers mock interviews with a pre-health advisor and webcam practice through Big Interview.
- Pre-dental clubs. At UC Davis, Health Professions Advising and the Pre-Dental Society ran an in-person, MMI-style mock interview with feedback from multiple interviewers in April 2024. Space was limited, so watch your own club's calendar.
- Free provider events. Paid providers also run free sessions, such as BeMo's free dental school interview training webinar and Leland's free group livestreams on dental interview questions.
Ask your advising office early. Some advisor mock interviews must be requested weeks ahead or are offered only once per cycle, as at UIC.
Human coaches and courses
A coach can hear your stories, push back with live follow-ups, and help with the rest of your application. That human judgment is the main strength of this group. The trade-off is cost, and most consultancies do not publish their prices.
BeMo
- What it is. Dental school admissions consulting, with interview prep as one path. Mock interviews are online and face-to-face over video conferencing, and can simulate MMI, panel, traditional, MPI, video and virtual interviews, with specific feedback.
- Plans. Named programs (Silver, Gold, Platinum and Titanium) or a custom program with a set number of mock interviews. Platinum includes unlimited mock interviews until you are ready.
- Price. Not published. BeMo says there is no standard plan and price, and pricing is set on a free consultation.
- Guarantee. BeMo offers a Get In Or Your Money Back guarantee on qualifying programs, plus a full refund if you tell your consultant at the end of your first session that you are not satisfied.
Inspira Advantage
- What it is. Dental school admissions consulting with unlimited 1:1 support from former dental admissions officers, covering school selection, essays and interview prep.
- Price. Not published. It starts with a free consultation.
- Guarantee. An admissions guarantee of free consulting the next year if you are not accepted, if you meet its conditions (qualifying GPA and DAT, its comprehensive program, an approved school list and at least one interview invite).
Leland
- What it is. A marketplace where you pick an individual dental coach for 1:1 coaching and mock interviews. Many coaches offer a free intro call.
- Hourly coaching. Coach rates on its dental page ranged from $50 to $390 an hour.
- Interview package. The Leland team's Nail Your Dental School Interviews package starts at $1,185 for 3 or more hours of coaching with multiple mock interviews.
- Bootcamp. The Dental School Application Bootcamp is $899 for six 90-minute live sessions (all recorded) and a 1:1 application feedback session. The last session covers interviews.
Ask what a session includes. Before you pay, ask how many mock interviews you get, who runs them, and whether they practice your schools' formats.
AI practice tools
AI tools let you practice out loud at any hour, and several have free tiers or published monthly or one-time prices. They are good for building fluency and timing. They do not replace a person who knows you, so many applicants pair them with at least one human mock interview.
Confetto
- What it is. AI mock interviews with a voice interviewer that asks follow-up questions, in MMI, one-on-one and panel formats at real timing, with 300+ dental school questions.
- Feedback. A score out of 100 after every answer, notes on tone, pace, eye contact and posture from your video, filler-word counts, model answers and score history.
- Price. Free for 7 days, then $149 a week, $299 a month or $579 a year, with the same features in every plan.
DentPrep
- What it is. AI interview practice built for dental school, covering MMI, Kira and traditional formats, with spoken or written answers and timed Casper scenarios.
- Price. A free tier with 1 mock interview, Standard at $29 a month (unlimited mock interviews) and Premium at $49 a month, which adds personal statement review, personalized questions and AI follow-ups. All plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Denterview
- What it is. Timed, on-camera mock interviews that you record, with instant feedback on eye contact, pacing, filler words and content. It covers behavioral, panel, MMI and Kira formats.
- Price. Mock interview packages from $9.99 to $54.99, PDF prep guides from $8.99, an interview bundle (guide plus 3 mock sessions) for $25.99, and personal statement review by current dental students for $40.
Intervly
- What it is. AI mock interviews in MMI, panel and one-on-one formats, with follow-up questions. Answers are recorded, transcribed and returned as a report card. It also has school-specific guides.
- Price. A free account that includes a mock interview, model answers and practice drills, then one-time payments of $129 for 2 weeks, $199 for 1 month or $399 for 3 months, each with unlimited mock interviews.
Books and self-study
- ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools. The all-digital 2025-26 edition is $35: a PDF book with application tips and worksheets, plus a one-year subscription to the online ADEA Dental School Explorer, which lets you compare up to four schools. Useful for knowing each school before your interview.
- Provider guides. Some providers sell short PDF guides, such as Denterview's interview guides from $8.99.
- Practice with a friend. Free and still useful: have someone ask you questions out loud, time your answers and tell you where you lost them.
How to choose
- Budget. Free resources first. AI tools run from $29 a month to $579 a year. Human coaching runs from about $50 an hour to over $1,000 for a package, and some firms only quote on a call.
- Time. With an interview in a few days, short AI access or one or two coaching sessions fit better than a long program. With weeks to go, mix regular AI practice with a human mock or two.
- Your schools' format. Formats differ. UF holds one in-person, open-file interview with 3 to 4 admissions committee members for about 20 to 30 minutes. UIC holds a 20-minute closed-file, one-on-one interview with 1 to 2 faculty members. UCSF holds two closed-file interviews, one with faculty on Zoom and one with a current student, plus a 30-minute writing exercise. Pick prep that practices the format you will face.
- Open or closed file. In an open-file interview, anything on your application can come up, so reread it. UF says anything on your application is fair game.
- What you need help with. If your content is strong but you ramble or freeze, frequent timed practice helps most. If you are unsure what your story is, a human coach or advisor helps most.
Don't memorize answers. Both UF and UIC tell applicants not to memorize answers. Practice the ideas, not a script.
Who each option fits
- Tight budget: ADEA GoDental, your advising office's mock interview, and a free tier from an AI tool.
- Want a person to coach you: BeMo, Inspira Advantage or a Leland coach, especially if you also want help with essays and school lists.
- Want lots of spoken practice: an AI tool such as Confetto, DentPrep or Intervly, which offer unlimited mock interviews on paid plans.
- Want a one-time, small spend: Denterview's packages or Intervly's one-time passes.
- Still researching schools: the ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools.
Frequently asked questions
Is a dental school interview prep course worth it?
It depends on what you need. Live coaching is most useful if you are unsure how to tell your story or want help with the whole application. If you mainly need practice speaking clearly under time pressure, free advisor mock interviews and an AI practice tool may be enough.
How much does dental school interview prep cost?
From free to over $1,000. ADEA's tips are free, and many universities' advising offices run mock interviews for their students. AI tools cost $29 a month (DentPrep Standard) to $399 for 3 months (Intervly), and Confetto is $149 a week to $579 a year. Leland coaches list $50 to $390 an hour. BeMo and Inspira Advantage do not publish prices. Prices as of October 2026.
Can I prepare for a dental school interview for free?
Yes. Read ADEA GoDental's interview dos and don'ts and your schools' own interview pages, and ask your pre-health office about a mock interview. Several AI tools also have free tiers: Confetto is free for a week and DentPrep gives 1.
Is AI interview practice enough for dental school?
For many applicants it covers the volume of practice, since you can repeat timed answers as often as you like. It cannot replace a person who knows you and your schools, so try to add at least one mock interview with an advisor, coach or dentist.
How many mock interviews should I do before a dental school interview?
Enough that the format feels familiar and your main stories come out clearly without notes. For many applicants that means several full, timed mock interviews in the format their schools use, with at least one in front of a real person.
What does BeMo offer for dental school interviews?
BeMo offers online, face-to-face mock interviews over video that can simulate MMI, panel, traditional, MPI, video and virtual formats, with feedback, in named programs or custom plans. It does not publish prices, which are set on a free consultation, and it offers a Get In Or Your Money Back guarantee on qualifying programs.
