Best PA School Interview Prep (2026): Courses, Coaches, AI
The main ways to prepare for a PA school interview, what each costs, and who each one fits.
PA school interview prep comes in four kinds. Free resources (your programs' own pages, PAEA and your pre-health advising office) suit everyone. Live mock interviews with a practicing PA (The PA Platform, The PA Life, Admissions Helpers) suit applicants who want human feedback and can spend $125 or more. AI practice tools (Confetto, Intervly, The PA Life's Maya) suit frequent timed practice. Interview guide books suit self-study.

Options compared (prices as of October 24, 2026)

- Pre-health advising offices
- Offered to their own students. For example, UW-Madison gives two mock interviews (one traditional, one MMI) and Northeastern one traditional and one MMI mock of 30 minutes per cycle. Fits: anyone whose university offers it.
- Admissions Helpers
- PA school admissions consulting with interview prep and mock interview coaching, in online meetings with a consultant. Price not published. Fits: applicants who want help with the whole application from a former PA program admissions director.
- The PA Platform (Savanna Perry, PA-C)
- A 60-minute live mock interview on Google Meet with a practicing PA, with a recording and a written summary within 24 hours, for $167. A 3-mock package is $325 and the Full Package is $2,000. Fits: applicants who want a PA interviewer and written feedback.
- The PA Life
- A 60-minute live mock interview over Zoom with a practicing PA-C, with a recording and one 20-minute Maya AI session, for $125. Fits: applicants who want one affordable human mock with a PA-C.

- Intervly

Free and official resources
Start here whatever your budget. These come from the programs, PAEA and the advisors who help applicants.
- Your programs' own pages. PA formats differ more than most. CU Anschutz runs a 15-minute individual interview, a 25-minute group interview and a 25-minute group exercise, while Northwestern uses one-on-one interviews and a group patient-case activity and says it does not use the MMI. Read each program's page before you pick any prep.
- PAEA's virtual interview tips. A 2020 article from the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) gives tips for virtual interviews: do a dry run of your camera and audio, check your lighting and background, and if you join a group discussion late, wait before you speak.
- Pre-health advising mock interviews. Many universities run mock interviews for their own students once they have an invitation. NC State offers one mock interview per student per cycle, UW-Madison two (a traditional one and an MMI), and Northeastern one traditional and one MMI mock of 30 minutes. UGA runs one-hour mock interviews and virtual mock MMIs.
- Free extras from coaches. The PA Life gives away a workbook of 317 PA school interview questions, and The PA Platform runs the Pre-PA Club, a free community.
Ask your advising office early. Most advising mock interviews are only open once you have an interview invitation, and the number per cycle is limited.
Human coaches and courses
A practicing PA can hear your stories, push back with live follow-ups and tell you how an admissions committee will hear them. That human judgment is the main strength of this group. The trade-off is cost, and not every provider publishes its prices.
Admissions Helpers
- What it is. PA school admissions consulting, including interview prep and mock interview coaching. Its interview page covers common and ethical questions, MMI preparation, Casper, Duet and Snapshot, interview writing exercises and thank-you letters.
- Who coaches. Its PA consultant is a PA and educator who was Director of Admissions for a PA program and says he conducted hundreds of interviews. Consulting happens in online meetings.
- Price. Not published.
The PA Platform (Savanna Perry, PA-C)
- What it is. Pre-PA coaching founded by Savanna Perry, PA-C. Its mock interviewers are practicing or licensed PAs with admissions experience.
- Mock interview. 60 minutes, live on Google Meet, with traditional, MMI, group or mixed questions matched to your school. You get live feedback, a recording and a written summary of strengths and weak spots within 24 hours. $167.
- Packages. Its booking page lists a 3 Mock Interview Package for $325. The $2,000 Full Package includes 2 live mock interviews, 2 strategy sessions with Savanna Perry, 4 counseling sessions, essay editing, lifetime access to its Pre-PA Academy and its guide books.
- Refunds. Unused services can be refunded on request within 60 days of purchase. No-shows are not refunded.
The PA Life
- What it is. A PA resource site founded by Stephen Pasquini, PA-C, with mock interviews run by practicing PA-Cs.
- Mock interview. 60 minutes over Zoom, with traditional and behavioral or timed MMI questions, feedback during and after, and a private recording. Follow-up interviews are offered at a reduced rate.
- Price. $125 flat, including one 20-minute voice session with its AI coach, Maya.
- Refunds. All sales are final, and The PA Life says it offers a Satisfaction Guarantee.
Ask what a session includes. Before you pay, ask who runs the mock, whether they practice your programs' formats (including group exercises), and whether you get a recording or written notes.
AI practice tools
AI tools let you practice out loud at any hour, and all three here have free tiers and published prices. They are good for building fluency and timing. They do not replace a person who knows you, so many applicants pair them with at least one human mock interview.
Confetto
- What it is. AI mock interviews with a live AI interviewer that asks follow-up questions, in one-on-one, panel and MMI formats at real timing, plus one-way video practice, with 300+ PA school questions.
- Feedback. A score out of 100 after every answer, notes on tone, pace, eye contact and posture from your video, filler-word counts, model answers and score history.
- Price. Free for 7 days, then $149 a week, $299 a month or $579 a year, each with unlimited mock interviews.
Intervly
- What it is. AI PA school mock interviews in MMI, panel and one-on-one formats, answered out loud on camera, with follow-up questions and an AI report card. It also has spoken drills, model answers and a PA question bank.
- AI price. A free account, then one-time payments of $129 for 2 weeks, $199 for 1 month or $399 for 3 months, with unlimited mock interviews.
- Live coaching. Intervly also sells live 45-minute mock interviews with PA faculty and interviewers, each with an application review and a written report with rubric scores within 12 hours: $149 for one, $269 for two or $369 for three. Live sessions are non-refundable but can be moved with 24 hours' notice.
Maya (The PA Life)
- What it is. An AI voice interview coach with 70 PA questions across 7 tracks, including 8 MMI stations, with spoken feedback.
- Price. The first 2 questions are free with no card. Then one-time passes: $9 for 20 voice minutes in 24 hours, $19 for up to 60 minutes in 24 hours, or $39 for 120 minutes over 7 days.
Books and self-study
- Interview guide books. Savanna Perry, PA-C wrote a 210-page PA school interview guide, and The PA Platform says her books are sold on Amazon.
- PAEA's CASPA Program Directory. Lists 339 programs and lets you filter and compare deadlines, prerequisites, GPA requirements, tuition and program length. Useful for knowing each program before your interview.
- Question workbooks. The PA Life's free workbook lists 317 PA school interview questions to practice from.
- Record yourself. Answer a question to your phone camera, then watch it back for pace, filler words and eye contact. It is free and shows you what an interviewer sees.
- Practice with a friend. Have someone ask you questions out loud, time your answers and tell you where you lost them. For a group exercise, practice with two or three people.
How to choose
- Budget. Free resources first. AI tools run from $9 (Maya, 20 minutes) to $579 a year (Confetto). A single live mock interview runs from $125 (The PA Life) to $167 (The PA Platform), and full packages cost thousands. Admissions Helpers does not publish prices.
- Time. With an interview in a few days, a short AI pass or one live mock fits better than a long program. With weeks to go, mix regular AI practice with a human mock or two.
- Your programs' format. GW runs a 5-station virtual MMI, Duke two individual interviews and a group exercise, and Emory a virtual MMI plus a timed written question. Pick prep that practices the format you will face, including group and written parts.
- What you need help with. If your content is strong but you ramble or freeze, frequent timed practice helps most. If you are unsure how to explain why PA, a practicing PA or advisor helps most.
Practice the group exercise too. Several programs, including Duke, CU Anschutz and Northwestern, include a group exercise on interview day. Most solo practice skips it, so find two or three people to rehearse with.
Who each option fits
- Tight budget: your programs' pages, your advising office's mock interview, and a free tier from an AI tool.
- Want a practicing PA to coach you: The PA Life or The PA Platform for single mock interviews, or Intervly's live sessions with PA faculty.
- Want lots of spoken practice: an AI tool such as Confetto or Intervly, which offer unlimited mock interviews on paid plans, or Maya passes for short bursts.
- Want help with the whole application: The PA Platform's Full Package or Admissions Helpers' consulting.
Frequently asked questions
Is a PA school interview prep course worth it?
It depends on what you need. A live mock with a practicing PA is most useful if you are unsure how to tell your story or explain why PA. If you mainly need practice speaking clearly under time pressure, an advising office mock and an AI practice tool may be enough.
How much does PA school interview prep cost?
From free to thousands of dollars. Your programs' pages and most advising mock interviews are free. AI tools cost $9 for a Maya pass to $579 a year (Confetto). A single live mock interview costs $125 (The PA Life), $149 (Intervly) or $167 (The PA Platform), and The PA Platform's Full Package is $2,000. Prices as of October 2026.
Can I prepare for a PA school interview for free?
Yes. Read your programs' interview pages and PAEA's virtual interview tips, and ask your pre-health office about a mock interview. AI tools also have free tiers: Confetto is free for a week, Intervly has a free account and Maya's first 2 questions are free.
Is AI interview practice enough for PA school?
For many applicants it covers the volume of practice, since you can repeat timed answers as often as you like. It cannot run a group exercise or replace a person who knows the PA profession, so try to add at least one mock interview with an advisor or a practicing PA.
How many mock interviews should I do before a PA school interview?
Enough that the format feels familiar and your main stories come out clearly without notes. For many applicants that means several full, timed mock interviews in the format their programs use, with at least one in front of a real person.
What does The PA Life's mock interview include?
A 60-minute live mock interview over Zoom with a practicing PA-C, feedback during and after, a private recording and one 20-minute session with its AI coach Maya, for $125 flat. Price as of October 2026.
