How offers are decided
Roseman calls its process holistic, and the Kira assessment is a required part of it. The Admissions Committee weighs your whole academic record in its final decisions.
- Full record. The committee looks at all undergraduate, graduate, certificate and professional studies in its final decisions.
- DAT in context. Scores are considered individually as part of your whole academic record. Several attempts may weaken an application.
- Weighting. Roseman does not publish how much the interview or Kira counts.
How you get an interview
You first have to clear Roseman's minimums. Everyone who does is invited to complete the Kira Talent Assessment.
- Science GPA. At least 3.0 over your last 30 hours of science courses. Below that, you will not be admitted.
- DAT minimums. 370 Academic Average, 360 Perceptual Ability, 340 Reading Comprehension, 370 Biology and 380 Survey of Natural Sciences. If you miss them by October 1, you are denied for the cycle.
- 50 shadowing hours. Paid work as a dental hygienist or assistant also counts.
- Letters. A committee letter if your school offers one. Otherwise three letters, two from science faculty.
- No degree needed. You need at least 60 semester credit hours, and prerequisites must be within ten years.
Who Roseman considers
- No in-state preference. Roseman is private, and every applicant is reviewed by the same criteria.
- Canadian DAT. Accepted. DAT scores older than three years are not.
- No transfers. Roseman does not admit transfer students or run an Advanced Standing Program for foreign-trained dentists.
Dates for 2027 entry
Roseman's deadline comes earlier than many schools', so apply early.
- June 2, 2026. First day you could submit an AADSAS application.
- August 2026. Interviews begin.
- October 1, 2026. Deadline for AADSAS, the supplemental application and $75 fee, and qualifying DAT scores.
- Spring 2027. Interviews continue until then.
How to prepare
Roseman's model is built on teams and mastery, so stories about working with others matter.
- Know the model. Roseman runs a three-year integrated curriculum, its Six-Point Mastery Learning Model and team-based clinical education. Say why that suits how you learn.
- Know the mission. The DMD program aims to improve oral health with special attention to underserved individuals and families. Have one story that shows that interest.
- Practice timed answers. Short, timed responses to ethics and teamwork prompts help for both Kira and the interview.
- Explain your cohort. Have a clear, honest reason for choosing the Utah or Dual-state cohort.
Pick team stories. Prepare two examples where you helped a group succeed, including one where the team struggled.
Practice questions
Questions in the style of a Kira assessment, then interview (format not published) station, written for applicants to Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine. They are practice questions, not the school's own. Open one for what a strong answer does.
Tell us about a time you had to rely on someone else's physical or technical skill to complete a team project, and their skill was lacking. How did you handle it?
Show how you supported the person without taking over, and what the team delivered.
You are a dental student. The actor plays your classmate, who has started taking over every group assignment and ignoring your input because they are convinced they need a perfect grade to specialize. Talk to them about sharing the workload.
Acknowledge their pressure, then agree on a fair split of the work without blaming them.
At many dental schools, students practice on each other, including giving each other local anesthetic injections. How would you build enough trust with a classmate to let them practice something like that on you?
Talk about clear communication, preparation and supervision, and show you can be a good partner too.
Describe a time you failed at something because you were overconfident in your natural ability and didn't prepare enough.
Be honest about the failure and show the specific habit you built afterward.
Imagine you are a dental student doing a wax carving exercise. Your instrument slips and destroys a detail you spent an hour perfecting, and there are twenty minutes left in the session. Walk us through your immediate internal reaction and your next steps.
Admit the frustration, then show a calm plan for using the time left.
You are a dental student. The actor plays a classmate who accidentally broke an expensive handpiece in the lab and plans to quietly put it back in the shared drawer so they don't get billed for it. Talk with them.
Explain why hiding it could hurt the next user, and help them report it without shaming them.
