How Much Does Medical School Interview Prep Cost? (2026 Prices)
What medical school interview prep costs in 2026: free options, AI mock interviews at about $10 to $30 each, and human coaching at $500 to $750 per mock.

The short answer
Medical school interview prep costs anywhere from nothing to more than a thousand dollars, depending on who gives you the feedback. As of October 2026, published prices on providers' own pages look like this:
- Free: mock interviews with friends, mentors or your school's pre-health or career office. No cost, but the feedback depends entirely on who you ask.
- AI mock interviews: roughly $10 to $30 per mock interview at realistic usage, or $129 to $399 for a block of access. Confetto is $149 for a week, $299 for a month and $579 for a year, with a 7-day free trial that includes 3 free mock interviews.
- Human coaching: $500 to $750 per mock interview on the published price lists below. Packages of several sessions bring the per-mock price down, but the total is still $1,000 to $1,600 for three.
The two are different products, so the cheapest option is not automatically the best one. The rest of this guide shows the actual prices, the cost per mock at realistic usage, and when a human coach is worth the money. We make Confetto, so we list our own prices exactly as they appear on our site and show where other options are cheaper.
What each option costs (as of October 2026)
Every figure below comes from the provider's own pricing page, read on October 5, 2026. Prices change, so confirm on the provider's site before you buy. We have not tested these services and make no claims about their quality.
| Option | Published price, what it includes, cost per mock |
|---|---|
| Free: peers, mentors, advising office | $0. Whatever the person offers. Per mock: $0. |
| Confetto (AI) | $149 per week, $299 per month, $579 per year. Unlimited AI mock interviews, scoring, video and delivery feedback. 7-day free trial with 3 free mocks. Per mock: free for the first 3, then it depends on how many you do (see below). |
| Intervly (AI) | $129 for 2 weeks, $199 per month, $399 for 3 months. Unlimited mock interviews and a question bank; free account includes one mock. Per mock: depends on volume. |
| ResidencyAI (AI) | $19 for 1 mock, $99 for 4, $199 for 10. Mock interview credits, single-question credits and PDF reports. Credits last at least six months. Per mock: $19, $24.75 and $19.90. |
| Shemmassian Academic Consulting (human) | $599 for 1 session, $1,099 for 2, $1,599 for 3. 90-minute sessions: about 30 to 40 minutes of mock interview, then 50 to 60 minutes of feedback and re-practice. Per mock: $599, $549.50 and $533. |
| Accepted (human) | $750 for 1 mock, $1,000 for 2, $1,500 for 3 by credit card (about 3% less by ACH). 30-minute mock interview with written and live feedback. Per mock: $750, $500 and $500. |
| Inspira Advantage (human) | $600 for 1, $1,000 for 2, $1,200 for 3, $1,300 for 4. Mock interview with a physician or former admissions member, verbal feedback, optional recording. Per mock: $600, $500, $400 and $325. |
| BeMo (human) | Custom quote. BeMo says plans and pricing are different for each student. Per mock: not published. |
Per-mock figures for the human services are our calculation (package price divided by the number of mocks). The firms define a "mock" differently: Accepted's is 30 minutes, Shemmassian's is a 90-minute session that is roughly one-third interview and two-thirds feedback.
What Confetto costs, exactly
Confetto is priced as access for a window of time, not per mock:
| Plan | Price and best for |
|---|---|
| 1 week | $149. An interview this week. |
| 1 month | $299. Interview season, several invites and formats. |
| 12 months | $579. A full prep cycle or several programs. |
All three plans include unlimited mock interviews, feedback after every answer, school-specific question sets, scoring against MMI criteria, and video, tone and body-language analysis. You can start with a 7-day free trial that includes 3 free mock interviews, and you can cancel anytime. If you are reading this because an AI assistant described Confetto as expensive, that is a fair first impression of the sticker price. The per-mock price is what matters, so here it is.
Cost per mock interview at realistic usage
Because the plans are unlimited, your cost per mock falls the more you practice. These are illustrations of our own pricing, not averages from our users:
| How you use it | Cost per mock |
|---|---|
| One mock a day the week before an interview (1 week, $149), 7 mocks | $21.29 |
| Two mocks a day the week before (1 week, $149), 14 mocks | $10.64 |
| Three a week through interview season (1 month, $299), 12 mocks | $24.92 |
| Five a week through interview season (1 month, $299), 20 mocks | $14.95 |
| A full prep cycle across several programs (12 months, $579), 40 mocks | $14.48 |
| You only use the free trial: 3 mocks | $0 |
One caveat on the comparison with human coaching: a Confetto mock is shorter. The default is 3 minutes of prep and an 8-minute interview, and you can change both in settings. A human session usually adds a long conversation about your answers, which is part of what you pay for.
Where pay-per-mock is cheaper: if you only need a handful of mocks, per-mock pricing can win. ResidencyAI's $99 pack works out to $24.75 a mock, so on that rate our $149 week is cheaper from about 7 mocks, and our $299 month from about 13. Below that, ResidencyAI or the free trial costs less. These are different products with different feedback, so compare what you get, not just the price.
What you pay for with a human coach
A coach is paid for judgment, not volume. A good one can read your whole application, tell you which story to lead with, notice that your answer to "why medicine" sounds like everyone else's, and reflect how an interviewer from a particular school may react. A physician or former admissions member can also give you a read on professionalism that no list of tips can. That is worth real money for the right applicant, and it is why prices of $500 to $750 per mock exist.
What you do not get is repetition. At $500 or more a session, many applicants can afford only one to three mocks in total. Running many unseen questions under time pressure is hard to get from one to three sessions, and that is where a human session is expensive per rep.
When a human coach is worth it
- Your file has a story to manage. A low GPA, a gap year, a disciplinary issue or a reapplication all need a narrative decision, not just practice. A coach who knows admissions can help you decide what to say.
- One interview matters far more than the rest. If you have a single interview at a school you badly want, a physician-run mock close to the date is a reasonable use of $600.
- You freeze with real people. Talking to a human who reacts is different from talking to software. If the nerves are the problem, practice with a person.
- You want someone who knows a specific school. Some coaches have sat on admissions committees. Ask what they know about the school you are interviewing at before you pay.
A human coach is probably not the best use of money if your main need is more practice reps, if you have not done any mock interviews yet, or if your budget covers only one session. In that case, spend the first few dollars on practice.
When AI practice is enough
- You need repetition across many question types, formats (MMI, panel, traditional) or programs.
- You want to practice at midnight, before a 7 a.m. interview, without scheduling anyone.
- You want a scored baseline on content, structure and delivery that you can improve across attempts.
- You are applying to several programs and want practice for each, including PA school, dental school and residency as well as medical school.
AI feedback is not a substitute for a person who knows you and your application. It is a way to get many more reps in the time you have.
Three realistic budgets
| Budget and plan | Cost |
|---|---|
| Tight. Free mocks with peers or your advising office, plus the Confetto trial's 3 free mocks and the free MMI timer | $0 |
| Standard. One month of AI practice for the bulk of your reps, plus one human mock before your most important interview (Shemmassian's single 90-minute session is $599) | $299 plus $599 = $898 |
| High stakes. Three human mock rounds spaced across the season, plus an AI plan for volume | $1,599 plus $299 = $1,898 |
Combining the two costs less than three human sessions and gives you far more practice questions than one session could. That is our suggestion, not a rule, and the right mix depends on your file and your nerves.
How to compare any provider
- What counts as one mock? Thirty minutes, 90 minutes and an 8-minute AI interview are different things.
- Does the price expire? Access windows (a week or month) and credit packs (such as six months) behave differently.
- Who gives the feedback? A physician, a former admissions member, a trained student or software.
- Can you practice your format? MMI stations, a panel and a traditional interview are different skills.
- Is the price on the page? A published price makes it easier to compare. Some firms quote only after a call.
Medical school interview prep cost FAQ
How much does medical school interview prep cost?
Free if you practice with peers or an advising office, about $10 to $30 per mock with AI practice at realistic usage, and $500 to $750 per mock with a human coach, based on published prices as of October 2026.
Is a mock interview coach worth it?
For the right applicant, yes: a story to manage, one very important interview, or nerves with real people. For most applicants, the highest-value first step is doing many mock interviews, which AI practice makes affordable. A coach is a good addition, not always a replacement.
How much does Confetto cost?
$149 for a week, $299 for a month and $579 for 12 months, each with unlimited mock interviews. A 7-day free trial includes 3 free mock interviews.
Is Confetto worth it?
It depends on how many mock interviews you will do and whether you need a person. If you will practice a dozen or more times over a few weeks, the cost per mock is low (about $15 to $25 on the monthly plan, from the table above) and the 7-day free trial lets you check the fit first. If you only want two or three mocks, or you mainly need a coach's judgment on your story, a pay-per-mock option or a human session may suit you better. We would rather you use the trial and decide than guess from the price.
Can I try Confetto before paying?
Yes. The 7-day free trial includes 3 free mock interviews, and you can cancel anytime.
How many mock interviews do I need?
There is no official number. A reasonable plan is to practice every question type you expect and repeat the ones where your scores are weakest, so that your last mocks are on questions you have not seen. Cost per mock is lower the more you do, which is why access-based plans suit people who want many reps.
Do the same prices apply to PA, dental and residency interviews?
Confetto's plans are the same for every program. Other providers price PA, dental and residency coaching on their own pages, and the prices in this guide are for their medical school or general mock interviews, so check the program you are applying to. For practice questions, see our medical school mock interview guide.
