Preparing for the USC Greenville medical school interview
USC Greenville's single 50-minute virtual interview with two committee members, the Thursday interview day, 2026-27 dates, plus practice questions.

The USC School of Medicine Greenville interview format
The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville runs a traditional interview, not an MMI. Its interview day page says virtual interviews run on Cisco Webex: "You will have one 50-minute interview conducted by two members of the Admissions Evaluation Committee." Both interviewers "will have access to your entire application and will each ask you a series of questions." The AAMC's MSAR report for the 2027 class lists the same single 50-minute virtual interview with two members of the committee, with invitations in August.

USC Greenville timeline for 2026-27

The Early Decision Program is open only to South Carolina residents: primary application due August 3, 2026, supplemental August 17, decisions on or before October 1. Regular decisions run October 15, 2026 to March 15, 2027; the regular primary is due November 1 and the supplemental December 15. The interview season is August 2026 to April 2027.
What USC Greenville says the day is for
The page says the day is designed to evaluate "cognitive and non-cognitive qualities." The non-cognitive qualities it names are:
- Motivation and maturity
- Integrity and sensitivity
- Interpersonal skills and warmth
- Intellectual curiosity
- Ability to withstand stress and to overcome adversity
- Basis for pursuing a medical career
What you will be asked about
The school says you will be asked about your academic record, medical-related experiences and extracurricular and volunteer activities, and that interviewers allot time for your questions. It does not publish a question list or say how the two interviewers divide the time.
How to prepare for the USC Greenville interview
- Prepare for two interviewers at once. Both ask questions in turn; practice looking at whoever is speaking and then briefly at the other when you answer.
- Know your whole application. Both interviewers have it, so be ready to expand on any activity, grade or gap.
- Have an adversity story and a stress story. The school lists the ability to withstand stress and overcome adversity by name.
- Learn the setting. Greenville is partnered with Prisma Health, which the school describes as South Carolina's largest health care system; know what the Upstate offers students.
- Test Webex early. Run a full test of camera, microphone and lighting before an interview that starts at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.

A drill for a 50-minute panel interview
- Ask two partners to interview you together for 50 minutes, each taking turns on questions.
- Give both of them your full application and have them pick two items to probe in depth.
- Time yourself and keep answers under about two minutes so both interviewers get to ask.
- Record one adversity answer and one stress answer; cut anything that is not a specific event.
- End with a calm closing question about the curriculum or Prisma Health.
If you don't have a practice partner, Confetto's AI mock interviews ask follow-up questions based on what you actually said and give rubric-based feedback afterward. The question bank has over 500 questions, and you can start with a 7-day free trial.
