Bond Medicine Interview: Psychometric Test, Format and 2027 Dates

What happens at Bond's medicine interview, how you get one, and how offers are made.

Bond interviews QTAC applicants online only. Its FAQ says the session takes about 90 minutes including registration and debriefing, and its 2027 dates page says about 2 hours. You reach it in three steps: academic rank, then an online psychometric test, then an interview invitation. Bond does not use the UCAT ANZ, and interviewers do not see your ATAR or test results.

What happens on the day

Bond's interview is held online. It looks at your general suitability for medicine and whether you are ready for a highly demanding course.

  • Online only. You cannot ask to interview in person.
  • Plan for 2 hours. Bond's FAQ says about 90 minutes, including registration and a debrief. Its 2027 dates page says interviews may take about 2 hours, so keep the whole block free.
  • Structure shared after you are invited. Bond does not publish whether it is a panel or a set of stations. Invited applicants receive all the information they need.
  • Interviewers do not see your scores. They do not have your ATAR, GPA or psychometric results.
  • QR code and photo ID. Have your interview confirmation QR code and one valid photo ID, such as a passport, Bond Student ID card or driver's license.
  • Be alone. No one may sit in on your interview.

Book fast. For 2027, invited applicants book their own slot on D365, first come, first served. Technical checks run on 4, 5 and 8 March 2027.

How you get an interview

Bond picks interviewees in three steps. You apply through QTAC, and Bond must be your first preference by the time applications close.

Step 1: Academic rank

  • Competitive scores. Based on the most recent intake, school leavers need an ATAR of 96 or more (or OP 1 to 3, or IB 38 or more) to be competitive for the psychometric test. Graduates need a GPA above 6 on a 7-point scale.
  • 2025 cut-off. In 2025 the cut-off was 96.75 for undergraduate applicants and 98.50 for graduates. It depends on the applicant pool each year.
  • No bonus points. Adjustment factors cannot be used for the Medical Program.
  • English prerequisite. English, English as an Additional Language, Literature, or English & Literature Extension (QCAA Units 3 and 4) at Grade C or better, or an approved equivalent.
  • About half go on. Approximately 50% of applicants are invited to the psychometric test.

Step 2: Psychometric test

  • Two tests. An emotional intelligence test and a personality test, done one after the other in one sitting. Together they take about 90 minutes, with a 2-hour limit.
  • Online and supervised. A proctor watches through your webcam. You need a laptop or desktop (not a phone), a webcam, microphone, speaker and a strong internet connection. Allow more than 2 hours for the whole process.
  • You pay the provider. The fee in 2025 was $346.50 including GST.
  • Valid for 24 months. Results from before October 2025 no longer count. If you already have a valid result, you cannot choose to sit the test again.
  • No report. Bond does not give applicants their individual results during selection.

Step 3: Interview invitation

  • Psychometric results decide it. All candidates are ranked for interview on the psychometric test, and each year is assessed against the current applicant pool.
  • 40% local target. Bond aims to give 40% of interview invitations to applicants living in Queensland or the Richmond-Tweed region of New South Wales (by postcode).
  • Check QTAC. Bond only emails applicants who are invited. Everyone else sees the outcome in their QTAC status.

No UCAT, no personal statement. Bond does not use the UCAT ANZ, and it does not consider work experience or a personal statement.

How offers are decided

Bond does not publish how your interview is weighed against your academic rank and psychometric results for direct entry. Offers go to applicants through QTAC and a Bond letter on the same day.

  • Round 1: 23 March 2027. Offers are released at 8:30am Queensland time. You must accept both the QTAC offer and the Bond offer.
  • Lapse: 30 March 2027. Round 1 offers lapse at 4pm. Later offers are not guaranteed. If places remain, Bond makes direct offers from 5 April 2027.
  • No deferral, no intake swap. You cannot defer or change between the May and September intakes, so list both in your preferred order if you can start in either. You can reapply in a later year.
  • Places. Bond's entry requirements page says up to 180 domestic places a year, and its FAQ says up to 200. Both say 80% go to undergraduate applicants and 20% to graduates.
  • FEE-HELP limit. Bond is a private provider. In 2025 the FEE-HELP limit for the Medical Program was $182,172, and tuition above that is paid directly to Bond.

Dates for 2027 and other routes

For the 2027 intake, applications open in January 2027 and interviews run in March. Dates may change.

Other routes in

  • Graduate entry. Graduates apply through QTAC (020741) and take the same psychometric test and interview.
  • Year 2 Lateral Entry. Open to graduates of listed Bond degrees, such as the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Pre-Health Professional major), with a GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00. Selection uses GPA, the psychometric test and an interview, and the final offer depends on the interview result alone. For the January 2027 lateral intake, interviews were held at the Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine on 23 October 2026. It is the only route for international students.
  • First Nations pathway. Bond has a First Nations pathway into the Medical Program and a First Nations Medical Scholarship Program.

How to prepare

Bond says you cannot prepare for the interview and does not endorse services that claim to help. What you can do is know yourself well and get comfortable talking honestly online.

  • Know why Bond. Bond's program takes 4 years and 8 months, using three semesters a year. It teaches in small groups through problem and case-based learning, with community placements and a First Nations cultural immersion workshop. Be ready to say why that pace and style suit you.
  • Think about "highly demanding". Have a real example of how you handled a heavy workload or a setback, and what you would do differently.
  • Set up like a test. Use a quiet room where you can be alone, with good light, a stable connection and your camera at eye level.
  • Practice out loud. Answer a few questions on camera, then watch them back. Look for rambling, filler words and answers that sound memorized.

Honest beats polished. Interviewers have no scores in front of them, so your answers are all they go on. Speak the way you would to a teacher you respect.

Practice questions

Questions in the style of a Interview (online) station, written for applicants to Bond University. They are practice questions, not the school's own. Open one for what a strong answer does.

You're applying for medicine straight from school. What makes you confident that medicine is right for you now, rather than exploring other fields at university first?

Give one or two specific experiences that tested your interest, and show you know what the job and the training really involve.

You haven't had the extra years of life experience a graduate applicant has. What have you done to build the maturity to talk with vulnerable patients?

Use a real example of supporting someone who was upset or unwell, and say what you learned about listening.

Your medical program runs three semesters a year with short breaks. How would you look after your health and keep up when the workload peaks?

Name habits you already use and the support you would reach for, rather than claiming you never get stressed.

Australia and New Zealand have some of the highest skin cancer rates in the world. Despite decades of campaigns like Slip, Slop, Slap, many young people still take risks in the sun. Why do you think public health messaging sometimes fails?

Show you understand why people act against advice, then suggest one realistic way to reach young people.

You and a close friend are in the same first-year anatomy unit. During a practical exam, you notice your friend looking at notes hidden in their sleeve. You know they've been dealing with serious family problems. What do you do?

Take both honesty and your friend's welfare seriously, and explain why letting cheating slide matters in medicine.

Your co-worker at a busy cafe has been arriving late and taking long breaks for two weeks, leaving you to handle the morning rush alone. How would you raise it with them?

Start with curiosity about what is going on, describe the impact calmly, and agree on a next step together.
