TMDSAS Interviews 2027: Dates, Pre-Match and Match Day
On this page
TMDSAS has no single interview window. Each Texas school sets its own days, from July into February. Schools can make pre-match offers to Texas residents from October 15, 2026. You rank every school where you interviewed by January 29, 2027, and Match Day is February 12, 2027.
TMDSAS interview season and 2027 dates
The TMDSAS dates page for Entry Year 2027 lists offer, ranking and Match dates for medical schools, but no interview dates. Each school runs its own season. Foster in El Paso opened interviews July 1, UT Southwestern runs August through early December, and Dell runs into February. The school table below has each window.
One date matters for everyone. “Only Texas resident medical applicants who have been interviewed by at least one TMDSAS school by the School Rank Preference Deadline will participate in the TMDSAS Match.” That deadline is January 29, 2027. If you are still waiting on an invite, our interview invite guide covers what to do when one arrives.
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| October 1, 2026 | TMDSAS application deadline. Early Decision offers go out by this date. |
| October 15, 2026 | Pre-match offers begin. Schools can offer seats to Texas residents. |
| January 29, 2027 | Rank your schools by 5 p.m. CST. The pre-match offer period ends that night. |
| February 12, 2027 | Match Day. Results post at 8 a.m. CT, then rolling admissions begin. |
| April 30, 2027 | Holding more than one offer? Pick one school and withdraw from the rest. |
| May 15, 2027 | After 5 p.m. CST, no Texas school can offer you a seat if you hold one at another. |
Pre-match offers
From October 15, 2026 to January 29, 2027, any TMDSAS school can offer a seat to a Texas resident it has interviewed, before the Match. TMDSAS says “Applicants may accept offers from more than one medical school during the pre-match offer period without the risk of an offer being withdrawn by a medical school during the pre-match offer period.” Decline the ones you know you will not take. Only a written offer counts. “Offers of acceptance should only be considered valid if an acceptance letter is received.”
No pre-match offer is not a no. You can still match to any school where you interviewed. And “If you are holding multiple pre-match offers, you will come out of the match holding only one offer.” For how long schools take to decide, see how long to hear back.
Ranking schools and Match Day
Your rank page opens August 1, and a school appears on it once it marks you Interviewed. TMDSAS is firm on two rules. “Applicants must rank all schools where they interviewed, regardless of whether or not they are holding a pre-match offer.” “Applicants who do not enter their match preference rank by the deadline will automatically be withdrawn from all medical schools regardless of whether or not a pre-match offer has been made.”
Schools send TMDSAS their own ranked lists of the applicants they interviewed, and TMDSAS places you at your highest-ranked school that also ranked you high enough. Results post February 12, 2027 at 8 a.m. CT, then rolling admissions run until orientation. The Match covers Texas residents applying to MD and DO programs. Out-of-state, MD/PhD, DO/PhD, MD/MBA, Early Decision and Assured Acceptance Program applicants are not in it. TMDSAS also advises “You will want to keep a screen-shot of your preferences for your records.”
Rank every school where you interviewed
Even a school that already gave you a pre-match offer, and even if you interviewed at only one. The only ones you leave off are schools whose pre-match offer you declined.
Put your real first choice first
You can rank schools that have not made you an offer above the one that has, without losing that offer. If you match higher, you are withdrawn from the pre-match school and every school below.
Check each school shows up
A school appears on your rank page only after it marks you Interviewed. TMDSAS suggests giving it a few weeks after your interview before you ask the school.
Save a copy before January 29
After the deadline you can no longer see your preferences in the portal, so take a screenshot.
Interview format at each TMDSAS school

How to prepare
Start with the format. Six schools use multiple mini interviews, and UTRGV, Sam Houston State and UH add a group interview. McGovern adds a Kira Talent video due within 5 days of the invite. Our interview timeline shows how the Texas season sits next to the national one.
Then practice the questions every format opens with. Texas Tech names one in its interview tips, and notes it is not the same question as why you want to be a physician.
“Tell me about yourself.”
A strong answer picks two or three moments that led you to medicine and ends on why this school. In our mock interviews the median first answer runs 267 words, about two minutes. How to answer it
Our answer length data shows how long applicants actually talk, and which lengths go with lower scores.

Frequently asked questions
When are TMDSAS interviews for 2027 entry?
TMDSAS does not set one interview window for medical schools. Each school sets its own, from July into February. To be in the Match, you need at least one TMDSAS interview by the January 29, 2027 ranking deadline.
When is TMDSAS Match Day 2027?
February 12, 2027. TMDSAS posts results at 8 a.m. CT, and rolling admissions begin after the Match. Rankings are due January 29, 2027 by 5 p.m. CST.
What is a TMDSAS pre-match offer?
An offer of acceptance a Texas school makes to a Texas resident before the Match, between October 15, 2026 and January 29, 2027. You can hold more than one, but you come out of the Match with only one.
Do I have to rank a school that gave me a pre-match offer?
Yes. You rank every school where you interviewed, offer or not. You can put a school without an offer above it and keep the pre-match offer if you do not match higher.
Is Baylor part of TMDSAS?
Yes. Baylor College of Medicine is on TMDSAS's list of medical schools and is part of the TMDSAS Match. Out-of-state applicants apply through TMDSAS too but are not in the Match.
