You two do the talking
You are a student in a coding bootcamp.
On Friday you, Gideon and Yaw show the parking-finder website you built together to hiring employers. You and Gideon wrote most of the code. Yaw, 70, is still learning the basics. In the project room, the three of you are deciding who speaks.
The scene
Gideon: Yaw, no offense. One hard question to you and we all look weak.
Yaw: None taken. I'll work the laptop from the back. You two talk.
Gideon: See, it works for everyone. You and I need those job offers.
Yaw: I do want a job too. But I won't sink yours. You decide.
The two questions
- 1What would you say to Gideon and Yaw?
- 2Describe a time including someone made a group's task harder. What did you do?
What raters look for
- Collaboration
- Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
- Equity
- Notices unequal access or treatment and acts fairly, especially for people with less power.
