Its admissions page says the interview day lasts about 4 hours, virtual or in person, and includes the interview, a campus selection form, time to learn about the program and time with current students.

What Rangel looks for

Rangel says its questions and scenarios are designed to measure one or more of these:

  • Responsibility
  • Ethical and moral judgment
  • Communication skills
  • Management skills
  • Problem solving
  • Self awareness
  • Teamwork
  • Conflict resolution

Its preparation advice for the MMI has three points: research the college, practice giving timed responses to a variety of scenarios, and review current health care issues. It also links a video on virtual do's and don'ts.

The 2026-27 cycle in brief

  • Timeline: for fall 2027, the application opens July 9, 2026, with a priority deadline of October 1, 2026 and a regular deadline in early February 2027 (the page shows both February 1 and February 2).
  • Interview dates: the page lists dates from October 8, 2026 through February 25, 2027, a mix of in-person and virtual days.
  • Priority route: apply by October 1 and receive an offer by December 1 to be considered for a $250 priority seat deposit (otherwise $500). The page says the priority track runs deadline early October, interviews late October, decision by early December, and that all 120 seats are available in the first round.
  • Interview requirement: the MMI is required for every applicant.
  • Dress: the college asks for business professional attire and lists items to avoid.

How to prepare for Rangel

  • Practice the 2-and-5 rhythm. Two minutes to plan, five minutes to speak. Practice using the planning time to pick a structure, not to write a script.
  • Practice the writing station. Ten minutes to respond to a prompt. Practice a short written answer with a position, reasons and a conclusion.
  • Plan for the rest station. Rangel does not say what it is for. In our view it is a chance to breathe and review your next structure, not to replay the last station.
  • Read current health care issues. Rangel names this explicitly. Pick three pharmacy-relevant issues, such as access, drug costs or medication safety, and form a position you can explain in a minute.
  • Use the MMI guides. Our MMI practice guide and MMI questions with answers cover scenario structure.

Rangel pharmacy practice questions (written by us, not Rangel)

Rangel does not publish its MMI scenarios. These are ours, built from the attributes it lists. Practice a few as five-minute spoken answers and one or two as ten-minute written ones.

  1. You are the team lead on a group project and one member keeps missing deadlines. How do you handle it?
  2. A patient asks you to fill a prescription early because they are traveling, and the insurance will not cover it. What do you do?
  3. You realize you gave a patient wrong information yesterday. What do you do today?
  4. Should pharmacists be allowed to prescribe some medications? Take a position and explain.
  5. A friend asks you to look up a family member's medical record. How do you respond?
  6. Describe a conflict you resolved. What would you do differently now?
  7. You are managing three tasks and each is urgent. How do you decide what to do first?
  8. What is the biggest problem facing pharmacists today, and what would you do about it?
  9. A customer is angry about the price of a prescription and is yelling. How do you respond?
  10. Write a response: what does a pharmacist owe a patient who cannot afford their medication?

A drill for a nine-station day

  1. Run seven spoken scenarios with a 2 minute plan and 5 minute answer, and one 10 minute written prompt.
  2. Take a real one-minute break between each.
  3. Record two of the spoken answers and watch for dropped structure in the last minute.
  4. Practice on camera for the virtual version, and with pen and paper for the writing station.
  5. Repeat in a different week with new prompts.
